Ozone Shock Treatments
What is Ozone?
Ozone is referred to as nature's own purifier. It is evident at the seashore, in rain forests and after thunderstorms. Ozone also referred to as activated oxygen or trivalent oxygen is created naturally in our environment either through electricity, photosynthesis or by ultraviolet radiation from the sun. It makes up approximately 20% of the air we breathe everyday. Ozone is created when one of these forces cause Oxygen to split into two separate atoms. The freed atom then attaches itself to a O2 molecule, recombining to create Ozone. The word "Ozone" is derived from the Greek word "ozien" which means, "to smell". In high levels ozone is bluish in color, which is why the sky is blue. Ozone was discovered in the late 1800's and is classified as the second strongest oxidizer in the world. In has been used over the last century to purify water and eliminate a wide range of odors in as a wide range of applications. In the most effective types of product the ozone is generated by high-voltage corona discharge duplicating the way lightning creates it. This is what the ozone generator I use does.
What Can Ozone Do?
Ozone has been extensively used for water purification, but ozone chemistry in water is not the same as ozone chemistry in air. High concentrations of ozone in air, when people are not present, can be used to help decontaminate, remove odors, kill mold and small insects in an unoccupied space. It is not a re-odorant. It totally destroys the offending gases that are the source of everything we smell. Unlike many other deodorizing methods, ozone actually searches out and destroys the problem gases
It can be useful in disaster recovery situations such as flood or fire. It is useful to help remove odors from pets, smoke, food and any other form of odor. Once the source of the issue is removed and there is no person pet or plant in the home. I setup the ozonator in your home or commercial property for a set amount of time. Once it has done it's job I air out the property and it is safe to re-enter.
Even in situations where the source of an odor cannot be fully removed such as a pet recurring treatments can be used.
Is Ozone Safe
When a trained professional like myself uses a commercial grade Ozonator it is safe. Ozone can cause discomfort if breathed in high concentrations, that is why all persons animals and plants will be removed from the property. Ozone turns into oxygen approximately 20 minutes after it is created, so once the machine is turned off and the area is vented it is safe to return.
The ozonator runs on a timer and I carry proper PPE to ensure no one is harmed.
How Does Ozone Work
Ozone is unique in how it works, while air fresheners cover up smells and mask them. Their molecules are only able to temporarily bond with the odor causing ones and the smell can come back.
Ozone molecules bond with odor causing molecules and permanently alter them. They actually change the core of the smell so it isn't the same anymore. That is why it can be used to combat mold and VOC's as well.
